THE RELEVANCE OF THE LAND USE ACT 1978 IN 21st CENTURY NIGERIA

Abstract


The Land Use Act, 1978 was enacted inter-alia to energize economic development in Nigeria by ensuring effectiveand equitable utilization of land and land resources. It also targeted reducing the high cost of land required forindustrial estates and mechanized agriculture. The implementation of the provisions of the Act lives much to bedesired particularly in this modern era. The aim of this paper therefore is to examine the relevance of the Act in21st century Nigeria.
