Abstract


Corporate social responsibility is the notion that corporations have an obligation to constitute groups in societyother than stockholders and beyond that prescribed by law or union contract. We adopted doctrinal method of datacollection using secondary sources of data collection. The precis of this paper therefore is to x-ray how corporatesocial responsibility, social responsibility and sustainable development can result when government and corporatebodies like oil and gas companies discharge their responsibilities and duties to the people and their environment;resulting in better lives to the people and sustainability to the environment for the present and future generations.We recommended the need to have a legal and regulatory framework that could make corporate bodies like oil andgas companies and government to be conscious of the plights of people in and around their areas of operations.
