A Mermaid’s Fantasy

G. Keerthana Prasanna

Abstract

The song of the thrush echoes the dusk’s anguish lavishly
The twilight is loathing in despair wishing for peace
Where the night robs my moments graciously
I tread in darkness the gloomy earth wears
Where I search for the vanishing Mirage wishfully
The tides devour me when I was filled with tears
All that I see in my dream flee
Into the spooky clouds
Hope perches on the distant hill clasping the willow tree
The lone moon on the grey sky staunches her sparkles
The stars wink at the bubbling surf wearily
I am as forlorn as mermaids in fantasy near the bay
Solitude joins the woebegone day
Numbness creeps into my heart to petrify
My emotions, where angst reigns perpetually
Let God silence the hoots of owl near the stream
For life is just a dream within a dream!
~~~G. Keerthana Prasanna is a passionate teacher and poet who lives in Tiruchchirappalli.
